Diamond Jubilee
'Castle Shed' Opened at Diamond Jubilee Tea Party
Mrs Slee, aged 93, who retired as a teacher at Castle Camps in 1982, returned to be our guest of honour and 'open' the new Castle Shed - outdoor learning area.
Following the opening of the Castle Shed we celebrated the Queen's Diamond Jubilee starting with 'God Save the Queen'. We added 126 diamonds - one for each child presently at the school, to the previous 'Silver Jubilee Banner'. This had circles - one for each child at the school 35yrs ago - 57 children only! We found that several families were represented by both - so that mum or dad or both were on the banner with their child.
A tea party had been organised - families, friends and guests were invited to join the children and staff in a grand Jubilee Tea Party on the school field. The rain held off and a good time was had by all!
Many thanks to all the generous donations of food.
