Our School


Castle Camps’ strong distinctive Christian character stands proudly at the heart of all school life. This is because the school is a family, based on Christian values. Our Christian ethos and aims are embedded in our practices, the children's behaviour towards each other and their learning, and the way in which our communities interact with each other. We are a school growing in faith through the values that we teach. We are an inclusive school and warmly welcome children, families and staff of all faiths and none.


Collective worship is an important part of our school day. It is a time where we come together to pray, reflect, give thanks, be still, celebrate, share and sing. Our vicar frequently visits school to lead Collective Worship, and we attend services at All Saints Church regularly.


We value Religious Education as a core subject in our school curriculum and whilst we place emphasis on knowledge and understanding of the Christian faith we also aim to develop our pupil's understanding of other faiths and beliefs represented in Great Britain today.


The potential for all children to succeed is a core belief at Castle Camps. Each individual child's progress is valued and monitored closely to ensure that they achieve their full potential. Our inviting learning environments, and topics that inspire awe and wonder encouraging spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, are just some examples of the Christian provision of education that we offer to our children.


Collective Worship

We understand worship to be a special act or occasion whose purpose is to show reverence to God. Collective worship involves all members of the school coming together and participating in an assembly. We expect everyone to take an active part in the assembly. In line with the 1988 Education Reform Act, which states that collective worship should be ‘wholly or mainly of a broadly Christian character’, we normally base our assemblies on the teachings of Christ and traditions of the Christian Church. However, we conduct our assemblies in a manner that is sensitive to the individual faith and beliefs of all members of the school and may make reference to the beliefs of others.

While the majority of acts of worship in our school are Christian, we also hold assemblies that reflect other religious traditions that are represented in the school and the wider community.
